Generating an Alarm During a Power Outage

No Backup Battery Installed

If a Trio Controller is not equipped with a backup battery/modem set, the following options are available to ensure alarm notification during a power outage.

1. Alarm Relay: Trio comes equipped with an alarm relay (refer to the Installation Manual). Connect this relay to a user-supplied alarm notification system.
2. Emergency Light and Siren: Connect the Trio to a Munters Emergency Light and Siren system to ensure that on-site farm workers are immediately notified of any alarm.
3. Communicator 2.0 for Trio: Connect the Trio network to a Communicator 2.0 for Trio.  This unit provides remote access to Trio controllers and sends alarms and events sent directly to your mobile device, PC, or tablet (including power-failure alarms) in real time. Refer to the Communicator 2.0 for Trio Manual for details on setting up the alarm system.
4. If TrioAir is enabled on your controllers, you will receive an alarm that you have lost connectivity. connectivity-loss alert is generated when communication is interrupted.  Note that this alert does not specify the cause (e.g., power outage vs. internet failure), so further investigation is required.

Backup Battery Installed

If the Trio controller includes a backup battery:

• The controller sends a power failure alarm via the Internet cloud.
• SMS notifications are sent to configured recipients informing them of the outage.
• Notifications continue for approximately 15–30 minutes.

Important: During a power outage, all controller functionality ceases.

Ordering Connectivity Upgrade Sets

Pre-Installed

Trio Controllers can be ordered with a 500 megabyte global data package SMS card.  The SIM can be activated to transmit the required alarm data.

If you want to upgrade your Trio to include a backup battery and modem, order the following components:

 SIM Card Options

• If using a Munters global SIM card, the dealer must contact Munters Technical Support.  Technical Support will pair the SIM card with the specific Trio controller. Once paired, the SIM can be used.
  • Registration with TrioAir is required.
  • The global SIM automatically connects to the strongest available network signal.
• The system is supplied with a pre-configured MIS SIM card as the standard setup. In certain regions or upon specific request, it may be possible to use a customer-provided SIM card; however, this option is not available in all cases. When a customer-provided SIM card is used, responsibility for cellular connectivity and any related issues rests with the customer.
